TANKA/HAIKU

MY RECENT PUBLISHED TANKA

petulant sea
throwing foam against rocks
a taste of salt
my eyes dry in the wind
even gulls are crying

splitting wood
in-between the silence
flicker drums
in the palm of my hand
I cup your beating heart

first appeared in Whispers In The Wind  November 2015

long-legged shadows
tiptoeing on pine needles
a splash of moonlight
over the gorge—a swing bridge
you and I hang suspended

first appeared in Tanka Journal Issue #2  2015

old maw of the sea
stealing riches from upstream
another deluge
eroding faith leaves gouges
my defenseless roots laid bare

tufted puffin
breaking the mirrored skin
of a silent sea
ripple after ripple
altering my outcome

first appeared in Cattails September 2015

a strangeness
in the foothills howling
at the moon
one more sleepless nigh
my mouth speaks wild sounds
